Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of mouse OSTN in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Sample type: Serum

Sample species: Mouse

Sample dilution: 1:10

Review: This kit is easy to use. A 10-fold dilution of the mouse serum samples gave a range of OD between 0.3 to 0.6. A negative control (mouse BNP) was included and the OD was negative. Thus, this shows that the kit is specific.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Hormone that acts as a ligand for natriuretic peptide receptor NPR3/NPR-C and promotes bone growth and physical endurance in muscle. Acts as a regulator of osteoblast differentiation and bone growth by binding to natriuretic peptide receptor NPR3/NPR-C, thereby preventing binding between NPR3/NPR-C and natriuretic peptides, leading to increase cGMP production. Required to enhance physical endurance: induced following physical exercise in muscle and promotes cGMP production, probably by interacting with NPR3/NPR-C. May act as an autocrine and paracrine factor linked to glucose metabolism in skeletal muscle.

  7. Ostn is a naturally occurring ligand of the NPR-C clearance receptor and may act to locally modulate the actions of the natriuretic system in bone by blocking the clearance action of NPR-C, thus locally elevating levels of C-type natriuretic peptide. PMID: 17951249
