Description

The human CCL2 ELISA Kit is intended to measure human CCL2 in serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. This assay uses the bi-antibody sandwich technique and enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to quantify human CCL2 concentration. The intensity of the colored product is directly proportional to the concentration of CCL2 present in the sample. This human CCL2 ELISA kit has high specificity and excellent sensitivity.

CCL2 is known for its chemotactic functions and controls the migration and infiltration of monocytes/macrophages. Apart from the chemotactic effect, CCL2 also exerts powerful stimulatory and mitogenic roles on mononuclear cells. CCL2/CCR2 signaling is implicated in regulating macrophage recruitment and polarization during inflammation. CCL2/CCR2 signaling is induced and involved in various neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and ischemic brain injury, as well as in inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetic nephropathy. CCL2 is also related to the development and progression of several cancer types, including breast, prostate, and ovarian.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Acts as a ligand for C-C chemokine receptor CCR2. Signals through binding and activation of CCR2 and induces a strong chemotactic response and mobilization of intracellular calcium ions. Exhibits a chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils. May be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis.
