Description

This mouse CD48 ELISA kit employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique to measure the levels of mouse CD48 in multiple samples, including serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. It also uses the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to visualize and analyze the analyte levels through the color intensity. The intensity of the colored product is in direct proportion to the CD48 levels in the sample and is measured at 450 nm through a microplate reader.

CD48 is an adhesion and costimulatory molecule expressed constitutively on nearly all hematopoietic cells. It is involved in cell adhesion and costimulation, activation of immune cells, regulation of target cell lysis by cytolytic cells, as well as detection of microbes through its interaction with the bacterial component FimH. Through interactions with CD2, CD48 contributes to synapse organization between T cells and antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and can enhance TCR signaling. CD48 mediates interactions with T cells, B cells, and NK cells by binding to CD244. CD48 cross-linking on human eosinophils triggers the release of eosinophil granule proteins, cytokines, and chemokines.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Ligand for CD2. Might facilitate interaction between activated lymphocytes. Probably involved in regulating T-cell activation.
