Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol.
Note: If you have any special requirement for the glycerol content, please remark when you place the order.
If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Basically, we can dispatch the products out in 1-3 working days after receiving your orders. Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

 Q&A
Q:

I am interested in the Catalog # CSB-YP021173BO SFTPB Recombinant Protein and has the following questions:
1.Does the buffer contain some detergent to preserve the structure because of its hydrophobicity?
2.Have you tested biological activity?

A:
Very nice to receive your inquiry.
1. Our default buffer is Tris-based buffer, 50% glycerol which does not contain detergent.
If the customer has special requirement for buffer, please kindly consult with us in pre-sales and remark the requirement in your PO.
2. We haven't tested the biological activity of this protein yest. The protein we provide is mature and full-length, and expressed by Eukaryotic expression system, which should have activity in theory.
However, we haven't done validation yet.
We have interest in the customer's proposal. We could offer 10ug free sample but they should pay the shipping cost.

Target Background

Function
Pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins promote alveolar stability by lowering the surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the peripheral air spaces. SP-B increases the collapse pressure of palmitic acid to nearly 70 millinewtons per meter.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Measurements of the depth of SP-B(CTERM) indicated the peptide center positions ~8A more deeply than the phosphate headgroups, a topology that may allow the peptide to promote functional lipid structures without causing micellization upon compression. PMID: 22252270
  2. results suggest the hydrophobic surfactant protein, SP-B, protects alveolar surfactant phospholiopids from hydrolysis mediated by multiple sPLA(2) in both vesicles (alveolar subphase) and monomolecular films (air-liquid interface) PMID: 22037357
  3. The hydrophobic surfactant proteins SP-B and SP-C induce formation of bicontinuous inverse cubic phases. PMID: 20409474
  4. Reactive oxygen species inactivation of lipid extract surfactant B (SP-B) biophysical activity appears to involve modification of a maximum of three amino acids: Trp9, Met29, and Met65. PMID: 17425286
Subcellular Location
Secreted, extracellular space, surface film.
