Conjugate Avi-tag Biotinylated
E. coli biotin ligase (BirA) is highly specific in covalently attaching biotin to the 15 amino acid AviTag peptide. This recombinant protein was biotinylated in vivo by AviTag-BirA technology, which method is BriA catalyzes amide linkage between the biotin and the specific lysine of the AviTag.

Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Cell adhesion molecule that plays a role in neuronal self-avoidance. Promotes repulsion between specific neuronal processes of either the same cell or the same subtype of cells. Mediates within retinal amacrine and ganglion cell subtypes both isoneuronal self-avoidance for creating an orderly dendritic arborization and heteroneuronal self-avoidance to maintain the mosaic spacing between amacrine and ganglion cell bodies. Receptor for netrin required for axon guidance independently of and in collaboration with the receptor DCC. Might also collaborate with UNC5C in NTN1-mediated axon repulsion independently of DCC. In spinal cord development plays a role in guiding commissural axons projection and pathfinding across the ventral midline to reach the floor plate upon ligand binding. Enhances netrin-induced phosphorylation of PAK1 and FYN. Mediates intracellular signaling by stimulating the activation of MAPK8 and MAP kinase p38. Adhesion molecule that promotes lamina-specific synaptic connections in the retina: expressed in specific subsets of interneurons and retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and promotes synaptic connectivity via homophilic interactions.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The diversity resides on the adhesive side, positioning DSCAM as a generalized modulator of cell adhesion during neural development. PMID: 30297418
  2. Results identify DSCAM-cell-adhesion molecule-mediated inhibition as a regulator of circuit-level neuronal plasticity in the adult mice retina. PMID: 29114051
  3. Findings indicate Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule (Dscam) as a permissive signal that promotes the growth and fasciculation of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axons, controlling the timing of when RGC axons reach their targets. PMID: 28137836
  4. Together, these results demonstrate that different cell types have different dependencies on the PDZ-interacting C-termini of DSCAM and DSCAML1 for function, indicating multiple intracellular molecular mechanisms are involved. PMID: 27637097
  5. work presents the correlation between DSCAM gene overexpression and a dysregulation of the P21-activated kinases pathway. PMID: 26966010
  6. DSCAM mutation induces dystonic hypertonia and a disruption of locomotor gaits. PMID: 26683069

  9. DSCAM colocalizes in developmentally dynamic patterns with adhesion and synaptic proteins in the mouse retina. PMID: 25352748
  10. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) DSCAM is sufficient to drive cell death (2) dendrite avoidance defects in the Dscam loss-of-function retina do not reflect a role for DSCAM, and necessary and sufficient to target neurites. PMID: 25855178
  11. A novel splice isoform of Dscam causes defects in lamination of type 2 and type 6 cone bipolar cells in Dscam mutant mice. PMID: 23300735
