Conjugate Avi-tag Biotinylated
E. coli biotin ligase (BirA) is highly specific in covalently attaching biotin to the 15 amino acid AviTag peptide. This recombinant protein was biotinylated in vivo by AviTag-BirA technology, which method is BriA catalyzes amide linkage between the biotin and the specific lysine of the AviTag.

Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Involved in the processing of hormone and other protein precursors at sites comprised of pairs of basic amino acid residues. Responsible for the release of glucagon from proglucagon in pancreatic A cells.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Study reports that PC2 null mice had increased number of mu opioid receptors in different brain areas. These mice also exhibited enhanced morphine-induced antinociception but reduced tolerance to and dependence on morphine. PMID: 27208618
  2. activation of the hypothalamic GPR40/FFA1 signaling pathway may regulate beta-endorphin release via PC2, and regulate the endogenous pain control system PMID: 26071852
  3. Verified the roles of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 2 in regulating IGF1 and female sexual maturation, it also might be involved in the regulation of aging. PMID: 25070661
  4. Islets of Langerhans from prohormone convertase-2 knockout mice show alpha-cell hyperplasia and tumorigenesis with elevated alpha-cell neogenesis. PMID: 24456331
  5. Pc2 activity can be downregulated by mutant PAX6. PMID: 24047795
  6. PC2 alone is responsible for catalyzing the conversion of pFE(22) to pFQ(7) and pSE(14), all peptides implicated in regulation of suckling-induced prolactin release. PMID: 22421509
  7. Dynamic modulation of prohormone convertase 2 (PC2)-mediated precursor processing by 7B2 protein has a preferential effect on glucagon synthesis PMID: 22013069
  8. PCSK2 is needed for normal food intake and processing PMID: 21092739
  9. PC2 has a role in endoproteolytic processing in mouse brain PMID: 12438088
  10. alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone was not detected in brain and pituitary glands of prohormone convertase 2 - deficient mice PMID: 12859669
  11. hormones processed by PC2 affected processes that regulate islet cell differentiation and maturation in embryos and adults. PMID: 12933680
  12. data indicate that null prohormone convertase 2 and 7B2 protein are not phenotypically equivalent in pituitary proopiomelanocortin (POMC) biosynthesis and granule content PMID: 14576186
  13. In the absence of PC1/3, PC2 can initiate complete processing of proIAPP to IAPP by cleaving the precursor at either its NH(2)- or COOH-terminal cleavage sites. PMID: 14693708
  14. prohormone convertase (PC)2 in cerebral neurons, compared to PC1, which governs the processing of procholecystokinin in intestinal endocrine cells. PMID: 15075450
  15. evidence for PC2 as the major convertase in alpha-cells leading to mature glucagon production PMID: 15143067
  16. Phenotypic differences between the 7B2 and PC2 nulls and play a life-or-death role in the ACTH hypersecretion syndrome present in both 129 nulls. PMID: 15878971
  17. prohormone convertase 2 is important for cholecystokinin processing PMID: 16174778
  18. cells showed a three-fold increase in PC2 mRNA and protein expression; this increase may represent a compensatory mechanism triggered by the loss of prohormone convertase 5 (PC5) PMID: 16266771
  19. Sequences with a Trp, Tyr and/or Pro in the P1' or P2' position, or a basic residue in the P3 position, are preferentially cleaved by PC2 and not by other enzymes present in the secretory pathway. PMID: 16903874
  20. The enhanced analgesia in PC2-null mice may be caused by an accumulation of opioid precursor processing intermediates with potent analgesic effects, or by loss of anti-opioid peptides. PMID: 16905251
  21. The active site serine mutant of PC2 (PC2-S383A) was efficiently secreted as the intact zymogen in CHO-K1 cells, suggesting that its propeptide can productively insert into the mutated binding pocket without causing misfolding. PMID: 17320043
  22. 7B2 possesses chaperone activity that blocks partially unfolded pro-PC2 forms from losing catalytic competence and then aggregating. PMID: 18467442
  23. Lack of PC1/3 was without effect on the third dibasic site (Lys(53)Lys(54)), which is the only processing site for PC2. The complementary cleavages of PC1/3 and 2, however, suffice to explain most of the normal endoproteolysis of progastrin. PMID: 18554181
  24. Expression of PCSK2 in mouse small intestine. PMID: 18706454
  25. PC2 expression levels were compared among brain cortex tissue, NS20Y tumor cells and its differentiated cells; differentiated cells or tissues had higher or highest PC2 activity PMID: 19428990
