G protein-coupled receptor kinase 4
G protein-coupled receptor kinase GRK4
Store at -20°C, for extended storage, conserve at -20°C or -80°C.
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.
This gene encodes a member of the guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptor kinase subfamily of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. The protein phosphorylates the activated forms of G protein-coupled receptors thus initiating its deactivation. This gene has been linked to both genetic and acquired hypertension.
Specifically phosphorylates the activated forms of G protein-coupled receptors. Plays an important role in the regulation of renal sodium handling and blood pressure.

Isoform GRK4A is expressed in testis. Isoform GRK4B is heterogeneously distributed in the kidney, with 20-fold enrichment in the outer medulla. Has a widespread but low level of expression in tissues other than testis.
