Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Gangliosides GD1b and GT1b (derived from GM3) may serve as receptors for some C.botulinum neurotoxins (minimally types BoNT/A, B, C).; Transfers the sialyl group (N-acetyl-alpha-neuraminyl or NeuAc) from CMP-NeuAc to the non-reducing terminal galactose (Gal) of glycosphingolipids forming gangliosides (important molecules involved in the regulation of multiple cellular processes, including cell proliferation and differentiation, apoptosis, embryogenesis, development, and oncogenesis). Mainly involved in the biosynthesis of ganglioside GM3 but can also use different glycolipids as substrate acceptors such as D-galactosylceramide (GalCer), asialo-GM2 (GA2) and asialo-GM1 (GA1), although less preferentially than beta-D-Gal-(1->4)-beta-D-Glc-(1<->1)-Cer (LacCer).
Gene References into Functions
  1. A new liver-specific c-type mRNA transcriptional variant of mouse ST3GAL5 protein has been identified. PMID: 28808804
  2. We used GM2/GD2 synthase (B4galnt1)-deficient mice to immunize by liposomes embedded with GD1alpha or acidic glycolipid fractions from brain of St3gal5-deficient mice. Specificities of established mAbs as analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and thin-layer chromatography-immunostaining were very high among various gangliosides. PMID: 27102283
  3. These studies establish ganglioside GM3 as a new candidate responsible for neuropathic pain and small fiber neuropathy in diabetes. PMID: 27590073
  4. R/K-based motif is necessary for the Golgi retention of ST3G5 . PMID: 26362868
  5. Functionally, the repression of St3gal5 suffices to elevate intercellular adhesion and expression of distinct junction-associated proteins, reminiscent of knockdown of Zeb1. PMID: 25643708
  6. ganglioside GM3 synthase has a role in siRNA-based spherical nucleic acid reversal of impaired wound healing in diabetic mice PMID: 25902507
  7. Results show that complete and partial deletion of the GM3 synthase gene exert distinct effects on the NP-C (Niemann-Pick disease Type C) phenotype. PMID: 24599001
  8. genes involved in the sphingolipids metabolism may be modifiers of cystogenesis, and suggest GM3 synthase as a new anti-cystic therapeutic target. PMID: 22563011
  9. Results suggest that complete, but not partial, inhibition of GM3 synthesis results in robust activation of an alternate pathway that may compensate for the complete absence of the products of GM3 synthase. PMID: 17604219
  10. the age at death of the npc1(-/-) mouse can be significantly influenced by many factors, including differences in strain background, other inactivating gene mutations in Siat9 and lxrbeta PMID: 18077828
  11. GM3 synthase silencing suppressed lung metastasis in murine breast cancer cells. The molecular mechanism that underlies GM3 synthase mediated migration and invasion was inhibition of the phosphoinositide-3 kinase/Akt pathway. PMID: 18171481
  12. Data show that M1-SAT-I and M3-SAT-I had a long half-life relative to M2-SAT-I. PMID: 19420140
  13. The defect of hearing ability of GM3 synthase null mice could be attributed to the functional disorganization of the organ of Corti, and the expression of gangliosides, especially GM3, during the maturation of the cochlea. PMID: 19470479
  14. zST3GalV-2 and mST3GalV are the enzymes responsible for the synthesis of GM4 in zebrafish and mice, respectively. PMID: 19542236
