Biologists study on Annexin V

Annexin V is a reagent to detect apoptosis in normal cells, phosphatidylserine is only distributed on the inside of the cell membrane lipid bilayer, early apoptotic cells, the membrane phosphatidylserine (PS) from the roll to the lipid membrane outside. Annexin V-binding protein as a phospholipid, with a high affinity for phosphatidylserine, which exposed outside through the cell phosphatidylserine early apoptotic cells and membrane binding. Annexin V was detected so early apoptosis sensitive indicators.

Apoptosis is one of the basic characteristics of the cell, which in the body of embryonic development, tissue repair, and other aspects of the stability of the environment plays a very important role. In normal cells, phosphatidylserine (PS) only found on the inside of the cell membrane lipid bilayer, and in the early stage of apoptosis, the cell membrane phosphatidylserine (PS) to the outside of the lipid membrane roll. Annexin ? is a molecular weight of 35-36kD, Ca-dependent phospholipid binding protein, with the apoptotic process in the outer membrane of the PS flip to high affinity specific binding.

ANX-? ELISA Kit as a fluorescent probe, the use of flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy to detect the occurrence of apoptosis in normal cells and early apoptotic cell membrane is intact. Propidium iodide (PI) is a nucleic acid dye, it is not through the cell membrane integrity, but in the late apoptotic and dead cells, PI through the cell membrane to the nucleus with red. Annexin ? match will use the PI, the cells may be an early and late apoptotic cells and dead cells separate.
