Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of rat SP-B in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Description

The Rat Pulmonary Surfactant-associated protein B (SP-B) ELISA Kit is a powerful research tool designed to detect and quantify Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein B in rat serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates. This kit is specifically designed for use in lung-related disease and signal transduction research and can detect levels of SP-B as low as 0.78 pg/mL with a detection range of 3.12 pg/mL to 200 pg/mL.

The assay principle is based on the sandwich technique, in which the capture antibody is pre-coated on a microplate and the detection antibody is labeled with biotin. Upon binding to the target analyte, the complex is captured by streptavidin-HRP conjugate and the substrate TMB is added to produce a colored reaction product that is quantified by measuring the absorbance at 450 nm.

With an assay time of 1-5 hours, a sample volume of 50-100 µl, and a detection wavelength of 450 nm, the SP-B ELISA kit provides accurate and reliable results for your research needs. With its high sensitivity and wide detection range, it can help you gain a better understanding of the role of SP-B in various physiological and pathological conditions.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins promote alveolar stability by lowering the surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the peripheral air spaces. SP-B increases the collapse pressure of palmitic acid to nearly 70 millinewtons per meter.
Gene References into Functions
  1. SP-B is present on the surface of exocytosed surfactant particles. Antibodies against SP-B stabilize the released particles when contacting the air-liquid interface, precluding their transformation and the formation of surface films. SP-B acts as an essential, preformed molecular key in the initial stages of surfactant unpacking and surface film formation. PMID: 27155084
  2. Liraglutide activates the GLP1 receptor, increasing ACE2 expression, reversing right ventricle hypertrophy, and improving the production of SP-A and SP-B in the lungs of Type 1 Diabetes rats PMID: 26196539
  3. The role of the SP-B NH(2) terminus in the formation and stability of cylindrical structures, specifically the distribution of lipid stack height, width, and density with four SP-B truncation peptides, was studied. PMID: 20023175
  4. VEGF increased expression of SP-b mRNA in preterm rat lung. PMID: 17267143
  5. alterations of surfactant are a consequence of the ventilation strategy that impair the biophysical activity of this material and thereby contribute directly to lung dysfunction over time PMID: 18344412
