Nanobodies, also known as VHH antibodies or single-domain antibodies, are small antibody fragments derived from camelid species, primarily llamas and camels. They are a type of antibody naturally occurring in these animals and are much smaller than conventional antibodies found in humans (which have four protein chains).

The nanobodies screened from alpaca libraries have many advantages, including small molecular weight, strong tissue permeability, high stability, low immunogenicity and so on. CUSABIO has both alpaca immunized library (VHH library) and alpaca naive library available, we can offer one-stop solution from antigen production to qualified recombinant antibody to our customers. CUSABIO nanobodies are favored by many customers, especially widely used for drug discovery.

Small molecular weight
Their small size (~15 kDa) allows them have strong tissue permeability, can directly penetrate the blood-brain barrier, conducive to the diagnosis and targeted therapy of tumors.

High stability
The high stability of the nanobody comes from the multiple disulfide bonds in its interior, which can withstand the denaturating conditions such as high temperature, strong acid and strong base, and can still be regenerated and regain biological activity after treatment at 90℃.

Low immunogenicity
Nanobody does not contain Fc fragment, avoiding the immune reaction caused by Fc fragment, and has a homology with human VH as high as 67%~87%, so nanobody also has good biocompatibility with the biological samples of human species.

Short leading time of large scale production
Nanobody is hydrophilic and monopeptidyl, as well as lack of glycosylation modification, so it can be produced in prokaryotic expression system with high cost effectiveness. At the same time, nanobody is not easy to lose biological activity, so it is easy for storage.
