Research Area
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of rat ANGPTL4 in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Target Background

(From Uniprot)
Mediates inactivation of the lipoprotein lipase LPL, and thereby plays a role in the regulation of triglyceride clearance from the blood serum and in lipid metabolism. May also play a role in regulating glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. Inhibits proliferation, migration, and tubule formation of endothelial cells and reduces vascular leakage. Upon heterologous expression, inhibits the adhesion of endothelial cell to the extracellular matrix (ECM), and inhibits the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton, formation of actin stress fibers and focal adhesions in endothelial cells that have adhered to ANGPTL4-containing ECM (in vitro). Depending on context, may modulate tumor-related angiogenesis.; Mediates inactivation of the lipoprotein lipase LPL, and thereby plays an important role in the regulation of triglyceride clearance from the blood serum and in lipid metabolism. Has higher activity in LPL inactivation than the uncleaved protein.
Gene References into Functions
  1. this study represents the first investigation to demonstrate that Angptl4 can predict podocyte injury at earlier stages in minimal change disease PMID: 26352670
  2. GR and FoxO1 are required for Angptl4 transcription activation, and that FoxO1 negatively mediates the suppressive effect of insulin PMID: 24565756
  3. the overexpression of Angptl4 exerts protective, anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic effects. It re-presents a novel therapeutic target gene for the treatment of acute lung injury induced by LPS. PMID: 23783408
  4. Data suggest that endothelial lipoprotein lipase (LPL) levels in the heart are altered to maintain FA flux and may exploit angiopoietin-like protein-4 (ANGPTL4). PMID: 22226882
  5. Angptl4 is a novel methylation-silenced gene both in rat and human mammary carcinomas. PMID: 21489049
  6. Angptl-4 is a fasting-induced controller of lipoprotein lipase in adipose tissue, acting extracellularly on the native conformation in an unusual fashion, like an unfolding molecular chaperone PMID: 17088546
  7. ANGPTL4 is a direct GR target that participates in glucocorticoid-regulated triglyceride metabolism. PMID: 19628874
