Description

The rat SELP ELISA Kit is engineered for accurate measurement of rat SELP levels from samples including serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. It uses the Sandwich-ELISA mechanism in combination with the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to measure the SELP content in the sample. The color intensity is positively correlated with SELP content in the sample. This kit has been validated against standards of sensitivity, specificity, precision, linearity, recovery, and lot-to-lot consistency.

SELP is an adhesion molecule found on the membranes of α-granules in platelets and the Weibel-Palade bodies in endothelial cells. It binds to monocytes, neutrophils, T cells, and platelets, mediating the rolling of blood cells on the surface of the endothelium and initiating the attachment of leukocytes circulating in the blood to platelets, endothelial cells, and other leukocytes at injured and inflamed sites. Soluble SELP is thought to be a marker of endothelial dysfunction in hypercholesterolemic patients. SELP is also involved in many acute inflammatory conditions mediated by neutrophils. It may also participate in chronic inflammatory conditions such as atherosclerosis because it regulates monocyte and T-lymphocyte emigration from the bloodstream.
