Target Background

Function
Carries out a dual signal transduction and activation of transcription. Mediates cellular responses to the cytokine KITLG/SCF and other growth factors. Binds to the GAS element and activates PRL-induced transcription. Positively regulates hematopoietic/erythroid differentiation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. NK cell numbers are decreased in Stat5a-Stat5b tetramer-deficient double knockin mice, but the mechanism was not investigated. Here we show that STAT5 dimers are sufficient for NK cell development, whereas STAT5 tetramers mediate NK cell maturation and the expression of maturation-associated genes PMID: 29105654
  2. Study investigated whether RGS4 could participate in signalling pathways to regulate neurotropic events. These observations suggest that RGS4 is implicated in opioid dependent neuronal differentiation and neurite outgrowth via a "non-canonical" signaling pathway regulating STAT5B-directed responses. PMID: 28219718
  3. STAT5B is a crucial regulator of RICD in memory T cells in mice PMID: 29187589
  4. Our work is the first to report that an active form of Stat5b restored DCs tolerogenic functions that re-educated Tregs to re-establish and to sustain long-term protective immune response against diabetes in NOD mice. PMID: 27634616
  5. Data indicate that 89% of signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (Stat5b)-CA mice in which the T2/Onc transposon had been mobilized died of progenitor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) by 3 months of age. PMID: 26500062
  6. STAT5B and MOF work as negative regulators in adipogenesis. PMID: 26388045

  9. Increased expression of STAT5b + PDGFB led to increased expression of downstream STAT5b targets. PMID: 25302990
  10. non-obese-diabetic genetic background is critical to the Stat5b-mediated lymphomagenesis through regulation of Stat5 hyperactivation PMID: 23457589
  11. Stat5b confers protection against diabetes in the NOD mice by regulating the numbers and function of multiple immune cell types, especially by up-regulating CD4(+)CD25(+) regulatory T cells. PMID: 22789848
  12. STAT5 is a negative regulator of Follicular Helper (TFH) CD4+ T cell differentiation, primarily through regulation of the transcription factor Blimp-1. PMID: 22271576

  14. rigorously Treg-depleted Stat5b-CA TG versus WT CD4(+)CD25(-) Teffs caused less GVHD lethality associated with diminished Teff proinflammatory and increased Th2 anti-inflammatory cytokine responses PMID: 20442366
  15. Growth enhancement in suppressor of cytokine signaling 2 (SOCS-2)-deficient mice is dependent on signal transducer and activator of transcription 5b (STAT5b). PMID: 12040024
  16. Stat5 regulated expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma.These results highlight a novel role of Stat5 in adipocyte differentiation. PMID: 12089351
  17. Whereas Stat5b-/- knockout mice have decreased numbers of CD8+ memory cells, transgenic Stat5b expression markedly increases CD8+ memory T cell numbers, indicating its critical role in regulating homeostasis of this cell population. PMID: 12496402
  18. STAT 5 proteins are not activated by physiological levels of insulin in adipose tissue. PMID: 12604355
  19. A subset of STAT5B-deficient mice exhibit autoimmune pathology very similar to mice lacking IL-2 or its receptor components, characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of multiple organs, including the bone marrow. PMID: 14607901
  20. Stat5b pathway is a key molecular defect in NOD mice PMID: 14701862
  21. prolactin activation of Stat5b is important in suppressing 20alpha-HSD gene expression and thereby allowing the maintenance of progesterone levels that are required to sustain pregnancy PMID: 15471942
  22. STAT5b plays a critical role during steady-state hematopoietic stem cell engraftment and a chromosome 7 modifier locus regulates this activity. PMID: 15498858
  23. Results are consistent with the hypothesis that STAT5 proteins are involved in the feedback regulation of somatostatin neurones by GH, and that these neurones may respond to patterned GH secretion to reinforce sexual dimorphism in the GH axis. PMID: 15796771
  24. Our results suggest the potential involvement of STAT5b in Lck-mediated cellular transformation. PMID: 16446405
