The ELISA Kit is designed to measure human ANXA5 levels in samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, or cell lysates. It uses the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique in combination with the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to quantify the analyte in the sample. The color develops positively to the amount of ANXA5 in samples. The color intensity is measured at 450 nm via a microplate reader.
ANXA5 is known to possess anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties. It also has a role in cytotoxicity. Due to its preferential phosphatidylserine (PS) binding property, ANXA5 has been used as a marker for the detection of apoptosis-undergoing cells. It regulates cell proliferation, signal transduction, and coagulation. In addition, it has been shown that the binding of ANXA5 to PS+ apoptotic cells can regulate the PS-mediated immunosuppressive clearance, thus enhancing the immunogenicity of apoptotic cells, including irradiated, apoptotic-tumor cells. Also, overexpression of ANXA5 has been detected in many cancers, including renal cell cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer.
