Hello! Everyone, I am Pranav P from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India
I have always been a science nerd, especially in biology. I was the odd child who was always highly interested in biology. To accomplish my interest by choosing to work as a biotechnologist, I think my educational knowledge and practical experience has given me the skills I need to succeed in the biological interdisciplinary field Biotechnology.
Currently pursuing M.S in Biotechnology at Anna University, housed at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (Biochemistry and Biotechnology Lab). As a biotechnology fellow, I am currently working on “DEVELOPMENT OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL ORGANOID MODEL USING RECOMBINANT BIOMATERIALS”. The elaboration of the given title, organoid is a 3D model developed in vitro (lab condition), which mimics 80 to 90 % of in vivo (internal body condition). This model has numerous applications including drug screening, pathway study and disease modelling etc. This research has good terms in every aspect like commercializing a drug and social beneficiary (personalized medicine) etc.
Initial major choice that determined my career path was to major in biotechnology as a bachelor's degree at the Dr M.G.R Educational and Research Institute. Where I have a good academic record with a CGPA of 9.5 / 10, also university 2nd rank with honour. Apart from that, I started my research during bachelor’s 2nd year in the field of cancer biology. The work was published in famous journals like Elsevier and Springer, publications titled “Gene expressions and their significance in organoid cultures obtained from breast cancer patient-derived biopsies” and “Prospect and retro prospect of 3D bioprinting. A nanoparticle was synthesised for drug delivery and a teratogen effect study was conducted and published. Final year project is an invention of clinical diagnosis method that is titled “An alternative method for rapid estimation of creatinine, which is in patent process. Completed internships in the field of python, bioinformatics, molecular biology, zebrafish rearing, toxicity research, omics methods and environmental biotechnology study, a Japanese Endowed program. Worked and experienced at Dr Rela institute & medical centre as training student and mentored over 150 students as a bioinformatics staff for the past 4 months (Jan-May 2024) under Naan Mudhalavan scheme.
My supervisor Dr N Ayyadurai, Senior Principal Scientist, Professor of AcSIR, Honorary Faculty of Anna University, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at CSIR. He is conducting research in various fields including Genetic code expansion, Protein incorporation and wound healing using collagen. Also aimed to start work on cellular agriculture development. Where I initiated to work in cellular agriculture development.
To conclude that, I provide a solid understanding of biotechnology's fundamentals and a variety of relevant knowledge and experience in the field. Also planned to start my own startup which is based on my final year project work, in near future.
I request the readers to vote for me, which helps to carry my research in a unique way to complete it. As I am 22 years old, I didn’t have much financial support, so kindly help me to win this program by voting. Thank you for reading.
