Description

The product CSB-E09063h is an indirect qualitative ELISA kit developed to access the presence of human anti-cytomegalovirus(CMV) antibody (IgG) in serum. The enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction is also used to amplify the signal and quantify the levels of the analyte through the intensity of the colored product. The color intensity positively correlates with the amount of CMV Ab IgG bound in the initial step. If the O.D. value of the sample is greater than or equal to the Cutoff value, it demonstrated that the sample contains CMV Ab IgG. Otherwise, the result is negative.

CMV is a common virus that spreads easily through an infected person's saliva or other body fluids. Most people have no or mild symptoms when they are infected by CMV. During pregnancy, a woman infected with an active CMV infection can pass the virus to her unborn baby. CMV can cause deafness, vision problems, intellectual disabilities, and other serious disorders in babies who are infected before birth. Studies have demonstrated that measurement of CMV IgG avidity is both a sensitive and a specific method for identifying pregnant women with recent primary CMV infection and thus at increased risk for vertical CMV transmission. A positive test for CMV IgG indicates that a person was infected with CMV at some time during their life but does not indicate when a person was infected.
