Conjugate Avi-tag Biotinylated
E. coli biotin ligase (BirA) is highly specific in covalently attaching biotin to the 15 amino acid AviTag peptide. This recombinant protein was biotinylated in vivo by AviTag-BirA technology, which method is BriA catalyzes amide linkage between the biotin and the specific lysine of the AviTag.

Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
May play an important anorexigenic role. Modulates arousal and anxiety as well as increases locomotor activity. Binds to its receptor NPSR1 with nanomolar affinity to increase intracellular calcium concentrations.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Neuropeptide S (NPS) increases motor activity and thermogenesis in the rat through sympathetic activation. These results suggest that NPS contributes to the regulation of the sympathetic nervous system. PMID: 28433253
  2. Intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) NPS evoked a significant somatodendritic release of oxytocin within the paraventricular nucleus. The anxiolytic effects of NPS within the hypothalamic PVN are mediated via actions on local oxytocin neurons in male Wistar rats. PMID: 29118105
  3. Our study identified a protective role for NPS in amygdala against the development of NP, possibly attributing to its anti-inflammatory activity and inhibition of spinal microglia and astrocytes PMID: 27224019
  4. Present results suggest a selective activation of one of the three neuropeptide S-expressing neuron clusters as well as release of neuropeptide S in distinct forebrain regions after sleep deprivation. PMID: 26462664
  5. Single-dose and long-term (4 months) olanzapine treatment led to the upregulation of NPS expression in the rat hypothalamus. PMID: 26227793
  6. Results suggest that excitatory and inhibitory actions by the neuropeptide S system are integral to the depression in learned helplessness animals PMID: 25986404
  7. NPS activates histaminergic and orexinergic neurons, thereby promoting wakefulness. PMID: 22300983
  8. emotional stress-induced release of neuropeptide S in the amygdala supporting a functional role of endogenous NPS in stress/anxiety-related phenomena. PMID: 21861171
  9. data suggest a role for neuropeptide S in the modulation of ethanol drinking and possibly anxiety-like behavior in rats selectively bred for high alcohol drinking. PMID: 18564106
  10. These data demonstrate that the distribution pattern of the central neuropeptide S system is only partially conserved between mice and rats. PMID: 21452235
  11. NPS blocked cue-induced cocaine seeking, indicating a role for this system in the pathophysiology of drug relapse PMID: 20974945
  12. The results suggest that neuropeptide S mitigates spatial memory impairment in rats induced by 72-h REM sleep deprivation, possibly through activating cAMP-response element binding protein phosphorylation in the hippocampus. PMID: 20495497

Subcellular Location
Secreted.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in mammary, salivary and thyroid gland. Expressed in the brain, in a cluster of cells located between the locus coeruleus (LC) and Barrington's nucleus, as well as in few cells of the dorsomedial hypothalamic nucleus and the amygdala.
