Buffer

If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose.

Reconstitution

We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.

Storage Condition

Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shelf Life

The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.

Description

In expressing the recombinant Varicella-zoster virus (strain Dumas) ORF11 protein, e.coli cells are transfected with a DNA expression vector that harbors the gene for the desired protein (354-808aa). The cultured cells then express the intended protein. The protein is equipped with a N-terminal 10xHis tag and C-terminal Myc tag. The recombinant Varicella-zoster virus (strain Dumas) ORF11 protein is collected and purified from the cell lysate through affinity purification, achieving a purity surpassing 85%, as confirmed by SDS-PAGE.

Function

Tegument protein that can bind to various RNA transcripts. Plays a role in the attenuation of selective viral and cellular mRNA degradation by modulating the activity of host shutoff RNase ORF17/VHS. Plays also a role in the primary envelopement of virions in the perinuclear space, probably by interacting with two nuclear egress proteins ORF24 and ORF27.
