Description

This recombinant monoclonal antibody is designed as a research-grade biosimilar to SBI-3150, targeting phospholipase D family member 4 (PLD4). PLD4 is a single-stranded DNA-specific 5' exonuclease predominantly expressed in immune cells, particularly dendritic cells and macrophages. Unlike other PLD family members that possess phospholipase activity, PLD4 functions primarily in nucleic acid degradation within endolysosomal compartments. This enzyme plays critical roles in innate immunity by processing nucleic acids in endosomes, thereby regulating Toll-like receptor signaling pathways. PLD4 has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, where aberrant nucleic acid sensing contributes to disease pathogenesis.

The reference antibody SBI-3150 has been utilized in immunological research to investigate PLD4's role in immune regulation and inflammatory responses. This biosimilar antibody provides researchers with a valuable tool for studying PLD4 expression patterns, protein localization, and functional mechanisms in both normal physiology and disease states. It supports investigations into innate immune signaling, autoimmunity research, and the development of therapeutic strategies targeting nucleic acid-sensing pathways.

Usage
It is a non-therapeutic biosimilar antibody, owning the same variable region from the corresponding approved therapeutic antibody. In conclusion, it is a research-grade biosimilar antibody and expressed in mammalian cell, which can be directly used as positive controls in drug discovery or used for rapid verification of the biological functions of target protein.

Target Background

Function
5'->3' DNA exonuclease which digests single-stranded DNA (ssDNA). Regulates inflammatory cytokine responses via the degradation of nucleic acids, by reducing the concentration of ssDNA able to stimulate TLR9, a nucleotide-sensing receptor. Involved in phagocytosis of activated microglia.
