Target Background

Function
Probable transcription factor. Required for root plasticity in response to nitrate, NO(3)(-). Promotes lateral root growth in a NRT1.1-dependent manner.
Gene References into Functions
  1. ANR1 overexpression accelerates early seedling development. PMID: 22523192
  2. ANR1 expression in roots of hydroponically grown Arabidopsis plants was specifically regulated by changes in the N supply, being induced by N deprivation and rapidly repressed by N re-supply. PMID: 16021502
  3. There is evidence for a nitrate-dependent component of the ANR1 signalling pathway. PMID: 16339770
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Tissue Specificity
Specifically expressed in roots, mostly in lateral roots (LR) primordia, young emerging LRs, apex and base of LRs, apex of the primary root, and in the stele. Barely detectable in shoots.
