Target Background

Function
Catalyzes a salvage reaction resulting in the formation of AMP, that is energically less costly than de novo synthesis. Contributes primarily to the recycling of adenine into adenylate nucleotides, but is also involved in the inactivation of cytokinins by phosphoribosylation. Catalyzes the conversion of cytokinins from free bases (active form) to the corresponding nucleotides (inactive form).
Gene References into Functions
  1. This study defines APT1 as a key metabolic enzyme participating in the cytokinin inactivation by phosphoribosylation. PMID: 23658065
Subcellular Location
[Isoform 1]: Plastid, chloroplast.; [Isoform 2]: Cytoplasm.
Protein Families
Purine/pyrimidine phosphoribosyltransferase family
