Target Background

Function
May play a role in tissue-remodeling process occurring in both normal and pathological conditions. May have a protease-independent function in the transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus of secretory cargos, mediated by the GON domain.
Gene References into Functions
  1. In summary, this study provides genetic evidence for a role of ADAMTS20 in CL/P development in dogs and as a candidate gene for CL/P development in humans. PMID: 25798845
  2. ADAMTS-9 and ADAMTS-20 have an identical modular structure, are distinct in possessing 15 thrombospondin type I repeats and a unique C-terminal domain, and have a similar gene structure PMID: 12514189
  3. This protein is identified and characterized and its relation to other disintegrins and thrombospondin 1 repeats is examined. PMID: 12562771
Subcellular Location
Secreted, extracellular space, extracellular matrix.
Tissue Specificity
Very sparingly expressed, although is detected at low levels in testis, prostate, ovary, heart, placenta, lung and pancreas. Overexpressed in several brain, colon and breast carcinomas.
