Target Background

Function

Member of the two-component regulatory system BasS/BasR. BasR induces the transcription of the ugd, ais, arnBCADTEF and eptA-basRS loci, all involved in resistance to polymyxin.

These findings suggest a role for the PmrAB two-component regulatory system in the virulence of Escherichia coli in a murine pyelonephritis model. PMID: 23921442
The PmrA response regulator contributes to qseB transcription in the absence of QseC and PmrA specifically binds the qseBC promoter, indicative of a direct regulation of qseBC gene transcription by PmrAB under physiological conditions. PMID: 24062463
