Target Background

Function
Monitors brassinosteroids (BR) responses and homeostasis, particularly in the root and hypocotyl in darkness. Promotes flavonoid biosynthesis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Overexpression of a novel BAHD family acyltransferase gene, ABS1/At4g15400, was the cause of the dwarf phenotype. PMID: 22956280
  2. BIA1 is strongly expressed in the root elongation zone and encodes a cytosolic acyltransferase-like protein. PMID: 22544867
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Protein Families
Plant acyltransferase family
Tissue Specificity
Mostly expressed in roots (particularly in the root elongation zone), and, to a lower extent, in seedling, leaves (especially in hydathodes), siliques (e.g. in developing seeds) and flowers.
