Target Background

Function

Catalyzes the decarboxylative condensation of pimeloyl-[acyl-carrier protein] and L-alanine to produce 8-amino-7-oxononanoate (AON), [acyl-carrier protein], and carbon dioxide. Can also use pimeloyl-CoA instead of pimeloyl-ACP as substrate.
