Target Background

Function
Required for establishment of the axial budding pattern in haploid cells. Cooperates with other bud site selection proteins to recognize a spatial landmark during mitosis and they subsequently become a landmark for downstream polarity establishment factors that coordinate axial budding and cytokinesis. Involved in the septin organization at the bud neck.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Bud4 plays a role in septin organization during bud growth. The central region of Bud4 functionally interacts with the septin ring. PMID: 25576483
  2. The results indicate that Bud4 functions as a platform that links septins to the axial landmark. PMID: 23345395
  3. Findings suggest that Bud4 plays a critical role in the assembly of the axial landmark and its link to the Rsr1 GTPase module. PMID: 22553209
  4. The Bud4, a long with Gin4 and cla4, is part of a complex network that regulates septins organizaon at the time of cytokinesis. PMID: 22185758
Subcellular Location
Bud neck. Note=Localizes to two distinct rings on either side of the mother-bud neck. The rings stay present in cells after cytokinesis and disappear before the next bud emergence. Requires IQG1 for proper localization.
