Target Background

Function
Plays a role in regulating directional growth at the meristem/organ boundary. Is required for the promotion of leaf and floral organ growth and for the prolongation of the plastochron. Promotes organ growth in a non-cell-autonomous manner and may generate a mobile growth signal distinct from the classical phytohormones that prevents premature arrest of proliferation, until the correct primordium size has been reached. Functions probably in association with CYP78A7 in regulating relative growth of the shoot apical meristem and plant organs. Is required locally in developing ovules to stimulates cell proliferation and promote seed growth.
Gene References into Functions
  1. KLU is required for chromosome pairing and organization at female meiosis I.KLU is required for normal DMC1 expression pattern in ovules undergoing megasporogenesis. PMID: 25182975
  2. the genetic and molecular mechanisms of SOD7, DPA4, and KLU in seed size regulation, are reported. PMID: 25783029
  3. The overall activity level of KLU is integrated across an inflorescence to determine individual organ size, and growth is coordinated by a mobile KLU-dependent growth signal. PMID: 20657185
  4. KLU generated a mobile growth factor gradient field in leaves. PMID: 20395288
  5. the KLUH-dependent signal appears to move beyond individual organs in a flower, providing a mechanism for coordinating their growth and ensuring floral symmetry as an important determinant of a plant's attractiveness to pollinators PMID: 20188559
