Target Background

Function
Involved in the biosynthetic pathway to 4-hydroxyindole-3-carbonyl nitrile (4-OH-ICN), a cyanogenic metabolite required for inducible pathogen defense. Converts indole-3-carbonyl nitrile (ICN) into 4-OH-ICN. Can hydroxylate xanthotoxin (8-methoxypsoralen) to form 5-hydroxyxanthotoxin (5-hydroxy-8-methoxypsoralen) in vivo and in vitro.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The enhanced resistance to B. cinerea in CYP82C2-overexpressing plants is accompanied by increased expression of Jasmonic acid (JA)-induced defense genes and elevated levels of JA-induced indole glucosinolates. PMID: 20354503
Subcellular Location
Membrane; Single-pass membrane protein.
