Target Background

Function

Acts redundantly with CYP98A8 as tricoumaroylspermidine meta-hydroxylase. Involved in phenolamide synthesis, but a recombinant CYP98A9 is unable to hydroxylate triferuloylspermidine. Unable to use 5-O-(4-coumaroyl) D-quinate or 5-O-(4-coumaroyl) shikimate as substrates.
