Target Background

Function
F-actin-capping proteins bind in a Ca(2+)-independent manner to the fast growing ends of actin filaments (barbed end) thereby blocking the exchange of subunits at these ends. Unlike other capping proteins (such as gelsolin and severin), these proteins do not sever actin filaments.
Gene References into Functions
  1. At3g05520 is moderately abundant in Arabidopsis tissues and present in a microsomal membrane fraction.At3g05520 is enriched on membrane-bound organelles such as the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi. PMID: 25201878
  2. Capping protein (CP) acts as a phosphatidic acid (PA) biosensor and key transducer of fluxes in membrane signaling phospholipids into changes in actin cytoskeleton dynamics. PMID: 22960908
  3. AtCPA and AtCPB showed distinct expression patterns in vivo, and that downregulation of AtCPB conferred increased Arabidopsis thermotolerance after heat shock stress. PMID: 22794924
