Target Background

Function
Component of the meiotic bouquet that facilitates meiotic nuclear reorganization of the telomeres to the centrosome. Links telomeres to the meiotic centrosome component pcp1. Essential for the formation of normal telomere clusters during meiotic prophase. Required for telomere length regulation and chromosome segregation. Required for proper positioning of nucleosomes at heterochromatic loci and for transcriptional gene silencing (TGS) function of the Snf2/Hdac-containing repressor complex (SHREC).
Gene References into Functions
  1. Together, these data provide a first glimpse into the architectural design of the Ccq1-Tpz1-Poz1 complex and reveals unique interactions that are important in maintaining the Schizosaccharomyces pombe telomere in a non-extendible state. PMID: 28807855
  2. Tpz1-Ccq1 interaction is required for Ccq1 Thr93 phosphorylation and telomerase recruitment. PMID: 25330395
  3. Tpz1 also participates in the activation of telomeres to the extendible state via its interaction with Ccq1 PMID: 24013504
  4. data suggest that Ccq1p and condensins Cut3p and Cut14p collaborate to mediate resolution of telomeres in mitosis and regulate intertelomeric clustering during interphase PMID: 20709788
  5. The loss of Ccq1 results in progressive telomere shortening and persistent ATR-dependent activation of Chk1 PMID: 19141478
