Target Background

Function

CIPK serine-threonine protein kinases interact with CBL proteins. Binding of a CBL protein to the regulatory NAF domain of CIPK protein lead to the activation of the kinase in a calcium-dependent manner.

Two proteins containing the evolutionarily conserved C-terminal region (ECT1 and ECT2) may play a critical role in relaying the cytosolic Ca(2+) signals to the nucleus, thereby regulating gene expression. PMID: 16113215
