Target Background

Function
Clathrin is the major protein of the polyhedral coat of coated pits and vesicles. Mediates endocytosis and is required for a correct polar distribution of PIN auxin transporters.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Secretion and endocytosis at the plasma membrane are sensitive to CHC1 and CHC2 function in seedling roots and that chc mutants have physiological defects in stomatal function and plant growth PMID: 28830938
  2. EDR4 associates with CHC2 and modulates plant immunity by regulating the relocation of EDR1 in Arabidopsis.[CHC2] PMID: 25747881
  3. study presents a genetic characterization of the role of clathrin in endocytosis and auxin-mediated plant development; data demonstrate a fundamental role for clathrin function in cell polarity, growth, patterning, and organogenesis PMID: 21551390
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasmic vesicle membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Membrane, coated pit; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side.
