Target Background

Function
Acts as essential component of the peripheral membrane COG complex that is involved in intra-Golgi protein trafficking. COG is located at the cis-Golgi, and regulates tethering of retrograde intra-Golgi vesicles and possibly a number of other membrane trafficking events.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Data indicate that Cog1, a subunit of the Golgi-associated COG complex, is also shown to contain an Ac/N-degron interacts with Cog2, Cog3 and Cog4. PMID: 23603116
  2. Cog1p has a critical role in the organization of the yeast conserved oligomeric Golgi complex PMID: 15932880
Subcellular Location
Golgi apparatus membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side.
