Target Background

Function
Required for specific RNA editing events in chloroplasts and stabilizes specific chloroplast mRNAs. Associates with the 3'-terminus ndhF mRNAs and protects them against 3'-exonucleolytic degradation. Required for normal chloroplast development under cold stress conditions by stabilizing transcripts of numerous mRNAs under these conditions. May modulate telomere replication through RNA binding domains.
Gene References into Functions
  1. null mutants of the cpRNP family member CP31A exhibit highly specific and diverse defects in chloroplast RNA metabolism PMID: 19297624
Subcellular Location
Plastid, chloroplast.
