Target Background

Function
Catalyzes the conversion of geranylgeranyl diphosphate to the phytoalexin precursor syn-copalyl diphosphate. Required for the biosynthesis of momilactones that exude from roots and act as allelochemicals against lowland weeds in paddy soil.
Gene References into Functions
  1. presence of two ent-CDP synthase isoforms in rice, one that participates in the biosynthesis of gibberelins and a second that is involved in the biosynthesis of phytoalexins. [OsCyc1][OsCyc2] PMID: 15341631
  2. OsCPS4 (locus Os04g0178300) encodes a syn-copalyl diphosphate synthase responsible for momilactones and oryzalexin S biosynthesis. PMID: 23621683
Subcellular Location
Plastid, chloroplast.
Protein Families
Terpene synthase family
