Target Background

Function

Covalently attaches a chromophore to Cys residue(s) of phycobiliproteins. Required for plastid division, and involved in cell differentiation and regulation of the cell division plane. Maintenance of plastid homeostasis controls plant preconditioning to stress and stress acclimation.; Confers sensitivity to cabbage leaf curl virus (CaLCuV), probably by supporting viral movement.

In the crl mutant, cell cycle regulation is altered drastically and meristematic cells prematurely enter differentiation, leading to reduced plant stature and early endoreduplication in the leaves. PMID: 25037213
The stomatal opening of guard cells with (crl-ch) or without chloroplasts (crl-no ch) in one epidermis of crl (crumpled leaf) mutant in Arabidopsis, were compared. PMID: 24506786
Constitutive AAA-ATPase expression, stunted growth, reduced Chl content, disturbed chloroplast division and spontaneous cell deaths in caa33 are caused by the mutation of a single gene, CRL. PMID: 22014227
CRL over-expressing plants showed an increased susceptibility to CaLCuV infection (as compared to wt plants) whereas CRL-silenced plants, on the contrary, presented a reduced susceptibility to Cabbage leaf curl virus infection. PMID: 19840398
crl mutant contains cells lacking detectable plastids; this situation probably results from an unequal partitioning of plastids to each daughter cell. [CRL] PMID: 19318374
