Target Background

Function

Component of SUN-protein-containing multivariate complexes also called LINC complexes which link the nucleoskeleton and cytoskeleton by providing versatile outer nuclear membrane attachment sites for cytoskeletal filaments. Required for nucleus structure organization (e.g. size and shape).

Gene References into Functions

Roles of the respective WIT and SUN paralogs have diverged in trichomes and root hairs, and that the SUN-WIP-WIT2-myosin XI-i complex and CRWN1 independently determine elongated nuclear shape. This supports a model of nuclei being shaped both by cytoplasmic forces transferred to the NE and by nucleoplasmic filaments formed under the NE. [CRWN1] PMID: 25759303
These results indicate that the LINC coiled-coil proteins are important determinants of plant nuclear structure. [LINC1] PMID: 17873096
