Target Background

Function
Catalyzes the synthesis of dihydrouridine, a modified base found in the D-loop of most tRNAs. Specifically modifies U20 in cytoplasmic tRNAs.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Results show that the catalytic cycle of dihydrouridine synthase 2 consists of reductive and oxidative half-reactions, and indicate that dihydrouridine formation is a later step in tRNA maturation. PMID: 19139092
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus.
Protein Families
Dus family, Dus2 subfamily
