Target Background

Function
Component of the exocyst complex involved in the docking of exocytic vesicles with fusion sites on the plasma membrane during regulated or polarized secretion. Involved in polarized cell growth and organ morphogenesis. Involved in polarized cell growth and organ morphogenesis. During cytokinesis, involved in cell plate initiation, cell plate maturation and formation of new primary cell wall. Participates in polarized pectin delivery required for the polarized development of the mucilage-producing volcano cells of the seed coat. Involved in the recycling and localization of auxin efflux carriers PIN1 and PIN2, and thus in polar auxin transport regulation. Functions in vesicle trafficking in tracheary elements to regulate patterned secondary cell wall (SCW) thickening.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The authors' results establish EXO70A1 as a central player in Casparian strip formation, generating a transient positional information that will be translated into a precisely localized cell wall modification. PMID: 28436943
  2. Arabidopsis EXO70A1 recruits Patellin3 to the cell membrane independent of its role as an exocyst subunit PMID: 28815958
  3. small molecule Endosidin2 (ES2) binds to the EXO70 (exocyst component of 70 kDa) subunit of the exocyst complex, resulting in inhibition of exocytosis and endosomal recycling in both plant and human cells and enhancement of plant vacuolar trafficking. PMID: 26607451
  4. Data suggest that EXO70A1 functions in vesicle trafficking in tracheary element (TE) to regulate patterned secondary cell wall thickening. PMID: 23709627
  5. study implies that multiplications of EXO70 genes may allow plants to acquire cell type- and/or cargo-specific regulatory machinery for exocytosis PMID: 20943851
  6. Exo70A1 is a compatibility factor in the stigma. Arabidopsis lines lacking Exo70A1 in the stigma are incapable of accepting compatible pollen. PMID: 19789280
  7. The putative exocyst subunit EXO70A1 is involved in cell and organ morphogenesis. [EXO70A1] PMID: 16942608
  8. EXO70A1 copurifies in a high molecular mass fraction of 900 kD, interacts with SEC3a, and functions as a subunit in a exocyst complex that plays important roles in morphogenesis. PMID: 18492870
