Target Background

Function

Endonuclease mostly active on RNA and ssDNA, and to a lower extent, on dsDNA. Can cleave mismatch regions in heteroduplex DNA containing single base pair mismatches or insertion/deletion bases. In contradiction with PubMed:22506810, cannot hydrolyze single-stranded DNA and does not cleave mismatches.

ENDO2 is a Ca2+/Mn2+-dependent nuclease, digesting ssDNA and RNA at neutral pH. The same enzyme is also able to digest dsDNA at acidic pH and in the simultaneous presence of Ca2+ and Zn2+ ions. The expression profile of ENDO2 gene suggests that it plays a role in the chalazal endosperm development. PMID: 23620482
