Target Background

Function
Could regulate export of the bud site and axial growth sites selection protein AXL2 and possibly other secretory proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum in COPII-coated vesicles. Seems to be required for axial budding pattern in haploid cells.
Gene References into Functions
  1. we demonstrate that mutation of the C-terminal acidic motif from ScErv14 or OsCNIH1, did not alter the localization of these cargo receptors, however it modified the proper targeting of the plasma membrane transporters Nha1p, Pdr12p and Qdr2p. PMID: 28723420
  2. Erv14 interaction with a novel cargo-binding surface on Sec24 is needed for efficient trafficking of all its clients. Some clients also engage an adjacent cargo-binding domain of Sec24, suggesting a novel mode of dual interaction between cargo and coat. PMID: 25619760
  3. Deletion of Erv14 causes localization changes in a variety of proteins. PMID: 22629230
Subcellular Location
Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Golgi apparatus membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Note=Resides in the endoplasmic and Golgi compartments, and then packaged into endoplasmic reticulum derived vesicles.
Protein Families
Cornichon family
