Target Background

Function
Non-receptor tyrosine-protein kinase which plays a role in morphogenesis by regulating the epidermal enclosure of the embryo, independently of its kinase activity. Prevents hyperactivation of the Wnt signaling pathway during endoderm development, probably by preventing hmp-2 nuclear translocation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. data suggest a requirement for FRK-1 in maintaining the identity and proliferation of seam cells primarily through an interaction with the asymmetric Wnt pathway PMID: 26358719
  2. apparent hyperactivation of the Wnt response in the absence of FRK-1 leads to hyperproliferation in the endoderm, as is also seen when WRM-1 is overexpressed in wild-type embryos PMID: 20805471
  3. performs a kinase-independent function in differentiation and morphogenesis of the C. elegans epidermis PMID: 15958510
Subcellular Location
Nucleus. Cytoplasm. Cell junction. Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein.
Protein Families
Protein kinase superfamily, Tyr protein kinase family, Fes/fps subfamily
