Target Background

Function
Tyrosine-protein kinase implicated in the control of cell growth. Plays a role in the regulation of intracellular calcium levels. Required in brain development and mature brain function with important roles in the regulation of axon growth, axon guidance, and neurite extension. Role in cntn1-mediated signaling. Required for convergent extension cell movements during gastrulation, acting with yes via rhoa. May be required for epiboly to occur, possibly through its effects in calcium signaling.
Gene References into Functions
  1. We also show that activation and reduction of Fyn kinase in oligodendrocytes increases and decreases sheath number per cell, respectively. PMID: 23806617
  2. Yes kinase plays an important role in epiboly and indicate that Yes kinase participates in signaling by focal adhesion kinase during early development. PMID: 15572145
  3. Fyn kinase plays an important role in epiboly during zebrafish development, possibly through its effects in calcium signaling. PMID: 16112104
  4. Fyn, and possibly other Src family members are activated by dephosphorylation of the C-terminal tyrosine at fertilization PMID: 16698010
  5. investigated signaling pathways in early development by comparison of the phosphoproteome of wild type embryos with Fyn/Yes knockdown embryos that display specific convergence and extension cell movement defects PMID: 18550893
