Target Background

Function
Catalyzes the formation of the alpha-1,6-glucosidic linkages in glycogen by scission of a 1,4-alpha-linked oligosaccharide from growing alpha-1,4-glucan chains and the subsequent attachment of the oligosaccharide to the alpha-1,6 position.
Gene References into Functions
  1. synthesis of a water-insoluble, partly crystalline, amylose-containing starch-like polyglucan restored in GlgB-expressing transgenic plants PMID: 26715025
  2. There was the suggestion in the data that impairments of starvation, cold and desiccation resistance were worse for the strain lacking glgB, though the first of these was not statistically significant. PMID: 25947105
Protein Families
Glycosyl hydrolase 13 family, GlgB subfamily
