Target Background

Function

Removes maltotriose and maltotetraose chains that are attached by 1,6-alpha-linkage to the limit dextrin main chain, generating a debranched limit dextrin. Shows only very little activity with native glycogen.

Gene References into Functions

The results show that the GlgX gene encodes an isoamylase-type debranching enzyme with high specificity for hydrolysis of chains consisting of three or four glucose residues. PMID: 15687211
