Target Background

Function

Glutamate-gated chloride channel subunit. Together with Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor Rdl, plays an important role in the visual response by regulating the activity of ON/OFF-selective neurons.

Gene References into Functions

Glutamate hyperpolarizes all major cell types in the antennal lobe, and this effect is blocked by picrotoxin or by transgenic RNAi-mediated knockdown of the GluClalpha gene, which encodes a glutamate-gated chloride channel. PMID: 23729809
