Target Background

Function
Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. The G(s) protein is involved in hormonal regulation of adenylate cyclase: it activates the cyclase.
Gene References into Functions
  1. dgsR60 mutant synaptic transmission defects were caused predominantly by lack of Gs(alpha) in presynaptic neurons and not in postsynaptic muscles PMID: 12843294
  2. DGsalpha is involved in trehalose perception. We suggest that sugar-taste signals are processed through the Gsalpha-mediating signal transduction pathway in sugar-sensitive GRNs in Drosophila. PMID: 16763022
Protein Families
G-alpha family, G(s) subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Preferentially expressed in the nervous system and in the eyes.
