Target Background

Function
Has a glutathione-disulfide oxidoreductase activity in the presence of NADPH and glutathione reductase. Reduces low molecular weight disulfides and proteins. Involved in flower development as a regulator of petal primorida initiation and further petal morphogenesis. May mediate post-translational modifications of target proteins required for normal petal organ initiation and morphogenesis. ROXY1/TGA protein interactions can occur in vivo and support their biological relevance in petal development. May be involved in the regulation of the floral regulator class C gene AG (AGAMOUS).
Gene References into Functions
  1. TGA9 and TGA10 expression overlaps with ROXY1/2 in developing anthers. PMID: 20805327
  2. ROXY1 is involved in flower development, probably by mediating post-translational modifications of target proteins (ROXY1) PMID: 15728668
  3. Two CC-type glutaredoxins ROXY1 and ROXY2 together control anther development in Arabidopsis thaliana.[ROXY2] PMID: 18036205
  4. ROXY1/TGA protein interactions in the nucleus have a role in petal development. PMID: 19218396
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus.
Protein Families
Glutaredoxin family, CC-type subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Highly expressed in inflorescences, roots, and siliques. Expressed at lower levels in mature flowers.
